Luci d’Artista is the winter festival of contemporary light art in Turin: for about two and a half months, works by artists light up streets, squares and buildings across the city. The 2026 edition, the 29th, switches on on Friday, October 23, 2026, and runs until January 10, 2027. Here are the dates, the new works and how to fit them into a trip.

Last updated: October 21, 2026. We checked the dates below on October 21, 2026, in the reports on the 2026 program published on October 19, 2026 by the arts magazine Finestre sull’Arte and by Mentelocale. The regional tourism site VisitPiemonte still showed older details, so we didn’t use it for the dates.

What is Luci d’Artista?

Luci d’Artista (Artists’ Lights) turns Turin into an open-air gallery every winter. Instead of ordinary Christmas lights, the city hangs light works by contemporary artists over streets, on façades and in squares. For 2026, the City of Turin promotes the festival and the Fondazione Torino Musei produces it, with Antonio Grulli as curator, according to Finestre sull’Arte.

Most works are outdoors, over streets, on façades and in squares, so you see them on a walk through the city. However, we couldn’t find an official statement on tickets or nightly lighting hours, and one new work is in the OGR’s east courtyard, so check access there before you go.

New works at Luci d’Artista Turin 2026

Of the 31 installations this year, four are new, according to the reports on the 2026 program:

  • Tony Oursler, Star(life): on the façade of the Politecnico, Corso Duca degli Abruzzi 24.
  • Samson Young, Inversions: in the east courtyard of the OGR, the former railway workshops.
  • Flavio Favelli, Poetiche del confine: location not yet published when we checked.
  • CANEMORTO, The Radiant Van: a mobile installation that moves around the city.

The full list of the 31 works with their addresses hadn’t been published on an official page when we checked. The regional tourism site still showed last year’s list, so treat older maps with care.

When to see Luci d’Artista

The lights are on from late October to early January, so they overlap with Turin’s other big fall events. The Nitto ATP Finals run from November 15 to 22, 2026, and the Torino Film Festival from November 24 to December 2, according to their official sites. In December, the lights add to the city’s Christmas atmosphere. The last weekend to see them is January 9 and 10, 2027, after Epiphany on January 6.

Days are short in late fall and it gets dark early, although we couldn’t confirm the switch-on time each evening. Combine an afternoon museum with a walk through the center once it’s dark.

A guided walk is an easy way to see the center at night. It isn’t a Luci d’Artista tour, but this Magic Turin evening tour walks the center after dark, and this traditional Turin food tour is a guided tasting walk.
