Borghese Gallery tickets work differently from most museums in Rome: every visitor needs a reservation for an hourly slot, and each visit lasts two hours at most. In short, this guide covers the official prices, the cheaper last slot, the strict bag rule and when a guided tour makes sense.

The short answer: the official ticket costs €16 plus a mandatory €2 booking fee, or €11 plus the fee for the last slot of the day. Entry is by hourly slot, the visit lasts two hours, and the gallery lets in only small bags up to 21 × 15 cm. Guided tours with the entry start from about $65 (checked September 2026).

How the visit works

  • Hourly slots, two hours inside. First, entries start every hour; then each visit lasts about two hours.
  • Opening hours: Tuesday to Sunday, 9 am to 7 pm, with last entry at 5:45 pm. The gallery is closed on Mondays, December 25 and January 1.
  • Collect your ticket early. Also, the ticket office opens at 8:30 am.
  • Leave big bags behind. The gallery allows only small pouches and clutch bags up to 21 × 15 cm; anything larger goes to the cloakroom at the entrance.
  • First Sundays: entry is free and you pay only the booking fee, however, those tickets go on sale just 10 days before.

Guided tours with Borghese Gallery tickets
