Halloween in Italy 2026: Dates, Lucca Comics, Ghost Walks and Theme-Park Nights
Halloween in Italy 2026: the dates of Halloween week, Lucca Comics and Games, the best ghost walks in Rome, Venice and Turin, theme-park nights and All Saints' Day.

Halloween in Italy is a young import that sits on top of two much older days: Ognissanti, All Saints’ Day, on November 1, and the Day of the Dead on November 2, when families visit cemeteries. You will not find American-style trick-or-treating in most towns. What you will find is a week of costumes, comic fairs, theme-park nights and ghost walks through old city centers. This guide covers the 2026 dates, the events worth planning around and how to spend the night of October 31.
The short answer: in 2026, October 31 falls on a Saturday and November 1, All Saints’ Day, on a Sunday. The biggest event of the week is Lucca Comics & Games, from October 28 to November 1, 2026, with day tickets from €26.50 (checked September 2026). For a spooky evening in a city, book a ghost walk in Rome, Venice or Turin; for families, Mirabilandia runs its Halloween season until November 1.

Is Halloween celebrated in Italy?
Yes, but differently. Halloween in Italy is mostly a night for costume parties, children’s events and themed nights in bars and parks. The days that really matter to Italians are November 1 and 2. All Saints’ Day is a national public holiday, and Italian offices, such as the Italian consulate in London, close for it. November 2, the Day of the Dead (la Commemorazione dei defunti), is when families bring flowers to the graves of their relatives.
In 2026, All Saints’ Day falls on a Sunday, so there is no long weekend. Expect Sunday opening hours in shops and museums on November 1.
Lucca Comics & Games: the big Halloween week event in Italy
The biggest crowd of the week is in Lucca, where Lucca Comics & Games runs from October 28 to November 1, 2026. The medieval town inside its Renaissance walls fills with comic stands, games and thousands of people in costume, which makes it the closest thing Italy has to a Halloween parade. According to the official ticket page:
- single-day tickets bought online cost from €26.50 (Wednesday, October 28) to €34.50 (Saturday, October 31);
- tickets are sold online through TicketOne, and from October 1 at TicketOne outlets;
- the premium “Level UP” passes were already sold out when we checked.

Halloween night in Italy: ghost walks in Rome, Venice and Turin

For grown-ups, the best way to spend October 31 in a city is a ghost walk. These tours tell the real stories of executions, murders and legends after dark, and they run every evening, not only on Halloween:
- Rome: Rome ghost tours start at 8 p.m. around Campo de’ Fiori and Castel Sant’Angelo. The best-rated walk is rated 4.9 from 132 reviews, from about $29. For real crimes, see the Rome crime tour.
- Venice: Venice ghost tours of 90 minutes take you through empty alleys around San Marco or Rialto.
- Turin: the Turin magic tour explores the city’s legends of the occult, or goes underground into siege tunnels.
On a Saturday Halloween, evening tours sell out, so book a few days ahead. Every tour above offers free cancellation up to 24 hours before.
Halloween in Italy for families: theme parks
For children, theme parks are the easiest option. Mirabilandia, near Ravenna, runs its Halloween season for families from September 26 to November 1, 2026 (Mirabilandia). For teenagers and adults, its Scary Night runs from 7:30 p.m. on October 30 to 1 a.m. on October 31, with a limited number of tickets from €39.90 (official page). From the park, a day in Ravenna makes a good change of pace.
Village Halloween festivals
Some small towns have turned Halloween into a festival. One of the best known is in Corinaldo, in the Marche, where Halloween has been celebrated as a town festival for 25 editions. Its 2025 edition ran on October 24, 25, 26 and 31. The 2026 dates had not been announced on the official site when we checked, so look again in early October.

Tips for Halloween in Italy
