The verdict
Book it. A 5.0 average across 1,464 reviews is not something we have seen more than twice on this site, and the distribution holds up under inspection: 1,424 five-star ratings against two one-star. 99 percent of travelers recommend it. Whatever this operator is doing in Bari, it is doing it consistently.
What you get is described honestly in the inclusions, which is rarer than it should be: an itinerant full meal — the provider’s own phrase — meaning that by the end of three hours you will have eaten the equivalent of a proper dinner, not a sequence of samples. At least one alcoholic drink is included for over-18s, along with water and a local English-speaking guide. Only gratuities are excluded.
Bari is also the right city for this format. Its old town is a warren where the good places have no signage and the famous ones — the women making orecchiette (ear-shaped pasta) on the street of Bari Vecchia — are not a performance laid on for visitors. Reviewers repeatedly note that their guide grew up there and took them only to family-run places that have been trading for generations.
Two things to know before booking, and one is a hard stop.
The provider states it plainly: for safety reasons, guests with severe or life-threatening food allergies are unable to participate in this experience. That is an exclusion, not an accommodation request, and it is the same position taken by the better food tours in Rome. It is the responsible answer for a tour eating at small family counters where kitchens cannot be controlled — but it means this booking is closed to some travelers at any price.
The provider asks travelers to be aware that the guide may speak both English and Italian during the tour. In practice that means mixed-language departures, so parts of the commentary may be repeated rather than delivered only to you. Nobody in the reviews complains about it, but if you want an English-only group, ask before booking.

- Where it starts. Piazza dell’Odegitria, by the palms in front of the Basilica di San Sabino — the cathedral, not the more famous Basilica di San Nicola.
- Where it ends. Piazza Federico II di Svevia, by the Swabian castle, which is a short walk from the start.
- Come hungry. Three hours of eating, and the first stop comes early — the operator has had to say so publicly.

The detail that recurs is local origin: guides who grew up in Bari taking people to places that have been in the same family for generations. In a city whose old town is genuinely hard to read from outside, that is the entire value proposition.
How it fits a Puglia trip
