What happened in 2026

The 2026 edition ran in May, and on May 17, 2026 Jannik Sinner beat Casper Ruud in the men’s final. He became the first Italian man to win the tournament since Adriano Panatta in 1976, fifty years earlier, which made it one of the biggest days in the tournament’s recent history. Expect strong demand for tickets in 2027.

The Foro Italico

The Foro Italico is a sports complex built in the 1930s in the north of Rome, between the Tiber and Monte Mario. The tennis is spread across several courts, from the Campo Centrale, the main stadium, to the smaller courts in the grounds, including the Pietrangeli court surrounded by marble statues. The complex also includes the Stadio Olimpico.

How tickets work

  • Buy from official channels only. Tickets are sold through the tournament’s official ticketing, currently TicketOne; prices and sessions are published there.
  • Ground passes and seats: the early days are usually the easiest to get and let you move between the outer courts; seats on the main courts are sold by session.
  • Day and evening sessions: the main courts usually hold separate day and evening sessions, each needing its own ticket.
  • Book early for the final weekend: semifinals and finals usually sell out first.

Planning your stay

The Foro Italico is closest to the Prati district and the Vatican, so staying there keeps the tennis and the sights close together. Late April and May are a good season for Rome, and the city is busy, so book rooms early.

Between sessions, see the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel, the Colosseum, or spend an evening on a Trastevere food tour. Our Rome travel guide covers the rest.
