New Year’s Eve in Naples 2026: Concert, Fireworks, Metro

Last year, New Year’s Eve in Naples centered on two places: a concert in Piazza del Plebiscito and fireworks on the seafront at midnight. The city hadn’t announced its 2026 program when we checked; last year it presented it in mid-December. Below we give last year’s details, as reported by the Italian press, so you can plan.

New Year’s Eve in Naples at a glance

The concert in Piazza del Plebiscito

For 2025–26, Naples ran a program called “Napoli Città della Musica” from December 29 to January 1. On December 31, Piazza del Plebiscito hosted a concert from 9:00 pm to 2:00 am, with Italian pop stars including Elodie and Serena Brancale, according to Sky TG24. In 2025, the press conference to present the program was set for December 15, as Fanpage reported, so the 2026 line-up may not be out until mid-December.

Fireworks on the seafront

Along the Lungomare, the seafront between Piazza Vittoria and the Rotonda Diaz, the “Napoli Sound Experience” started at 10:00 pm last year. At midnight, a DJ set and fireworks over the seafront followed, according to Sky TG24 and Fanpage. We couldn’t confirm the exact launch point on an official source, but the reports placed the action along Via Caracciolo and towards Castel dell’Ovo.

Rules for New Year’s Eve in Naples

Last year’s ordinance covered Piazza del Plebiscito, Piazza Municipio and the Lungomare Caracciolo from 6:00 pm on December 31, according to the newspaper L’Adige. It banned selling and drinking from glass, rigid plastic, cartons and cans (only light plastic or paper cups were allowed). It also banned pepper spray, and bringing in or setting off fireworks, firecrackers and rockets in those areas. There was no limit on numbers at the squares, Sky TG24 reported.

Getting around on December 31

Public transport changes on New Year’s Eve. In 2025, the city transport company ANM ran Metro Line 1 and the Centrale and Chiaia funiculars all night, according to the Napolike site. By contrast, Line 6 stopped at 9:00 pm and the Montesanto and Mergellina funiculars made their last run at 7:40 pm. Buses and the Alibus airport shuttle ended at 8:00 pm, with the last departures around 7:00 pm, and night buses didn’t run. So plan to walk or use Line 1, and check ANM’s notices for 2026.

New Year’s Day in Naples
